This course is designed for students who are interested in exploring the real world applications of the video media production. Tubesock is a daily broadcast produced by the students for the the Loyalsock Township High School. Here is some of the work done by our students:
Grade 6 Technical Education
This course will explore the process of leather-working. Students will explore the use of leather-working tools and then go through the step by step approach of designing, cutting, tooling, staining, finishing, and assembling leather projects. By the end of this course students will be able to take a raw piece of vegetable tanned leather and turn it into a finished project.
Grade 7 Technical Education
This course will explore the procedural approach for making projects out of lumber. Topics in this course include: shop safety, measurement, calculations, design, component production, assembly, and finishing. By the end of this course students will know and be able to conduct all of the elements involved in making a finely finished wood project.
Grade 8 Technical Education
This course will explore wood and leather working at a more student driven, independent approach. Students in this course will work with wood and leather at a complexity level greater than previously explored. Main course topics include sequential wood and leather project production.
This course introduces students to the design process and the principles of design. Emphasis will be placed on problem solving and relating graphic design to communication. Students will study the principals of design, color theory, typography, and will use major design software including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Design elements of both print and Web publications will be introduced. Students will also explore career options in the graphic design industry.
Pre-Engineering and CADD
In this course, students are introduced to engineering, learning the basics of CAD software: creating points, lines, other geometric forms, isometric drawings, and 3D models. They learn how to translate initial concepts into functional designs and 3D walkthroughs and explore career options in this hands-on introductory-level course. The goal of this course is to provide high school students with a broad outline of engineering and help them decide on a career in engineering. The first part of this course is focused on exploring the different disciplines of engineering and providing participants with a broad background in different areas of engineering.
This course to provides students with an opportunity to develop the 21st century skills needed to become productive members of our technological society. Students are encouraged to explore and develop individual interests as well as creative and intellectual abilities related to technological careers, problem solving, and the design method.
Computer-aided design systems are used by designers and manufacturers in virtually every industry to create engineering design solutions. In this course, students are introduced to engineering, learning the basics of CAD software: creating points, lines, other geometric forms, isometric drawings, and 3D models. They learn how to translate initial concepts into functional designs and 3D walkthroughs and explore career options in this hands-on introductory-level course.
Plastics and Polymers
This course covers information on polymeric materials and various polymer processing techniques. Students will come to understand the impact of plastics and polymer engineering technology solutions in a societal and global context. Students will select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of plastics and polymer usage.
This course is designed for students who are interested in exploring the real world applications of the arts, focusing on design and how it pertains to a variety of contemporary technologies, such as digital photography, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe in Design, Adobe Illustrator, and Windows Moviemaker. Students will employ the conventions of art criticism to process and judge design pieces using their knowledge of the elements of art and the principles of design.
